Penton Park is an absolutely STUNNING country house and was the venue of choice for the wedding of Lucy and Tom who said “I Do” on July 22nd.
I fell in love. I fell in love HARD! This beautiful, down to earth, intelligent couple who met at Cambridge University had the perfect day. Yes, it may have had some grey clouds and a few spells of rain but this didn’t stop them from having a day full of love, laughter and creating amazing memories with their friends and family.
Lucy, all I can say about Lucy is just how friendly and warm she is. From the very first phone call we had last June I knew she would be “my bride”. She chose a stunning, simple floor length dress from Whistles and her amazing funky shoes where from Dune! together with wild flowers for both her hair and her bouquet, she looked every inch an English country Bride. Accompanied by her one and only Bridesmaid Rachel, the two girls had a most relaxed morning laughing and joking around while getting their hair and make up done by Lucys’ family friend Jane Allison. It was so lovely to have a wedding prep where it was just two childhood friends getting ready for a wedding day. You could just see them doing the same thing as teenagers and as kids. Rachel even pulled out an old school polaroid camera and caught some key moments of her best friend on some old film.
Up until their pre-wedding session I hadn’t met Tom but as soon as I did you knew why they where together. Such a gentleman and so lovely to talk to. Tom and the boys look very dapper in their Moss Bros Tailored- Cerruti Indigo suits and Tom loos even more the part as he rocked up in his Dads old Porsche. All through the day Tom did not take his eyes off of his beautiful Bride. Every now and again smiling to himself and I can only imagine what he was thinking. (Thats what I like about capturing little un-noticed looks). I will be honest. They reminded me of Wills & Kate! Just radiating love, respect and elegance.
The venue looked amazing having been dressed by Sophie Anderson. It was like the English country garden outside had been brought indoors and everything from the stationary to the table favours came together with soft undertones of vintage. The whole day ran so so smoothly with the help of owner Michelle and the first class services of Smallpiece Catering with Gemma and Ann. The food was to die for and nobody wanted for anything.
As you can see this day was all about including friends and family. As well as having a friend do her hair and make up, Lucys’ university friends came together and performed a song for the couple and theirs guests as a surprise before everyone went in for dinner. Later, everyone on the top table toasted to the couple together and as the amazing individuals they are. It was so so lovely to see a pair who where so highly though of.
Later into the evening, even with a little bit of rain, these two happily ventured out for a few more photos and I couldn’t have been happier! They didn’t care about the weather, about the train or about anything else other then having a lovely memorable time.
A-List provided the evenings entertainment and before the first dance even ended the dance floor was heaving! We couldn’t more for all of the dancing feet around us!
THANK YOU so much Lucy and Tom for entrusting me to come down south to shoot your amazing day!
